The 12th Annual ASA Southeast Asian Feed Technology and Nutrition Workshop drew a total of 77 key swine nutritionists and feedmillers from Southeast Asia to Cebu, Philippines. The theme of this year's workshop was "Efficient and Profitable Pig Production”. This year’s workshop sessions focused on odor control, carcass quality, corn grading and soybean meal quality. Swine production in the region has benefited from the rising demand, however profitability was affected by the tremendous increase ingredient prices on the costs of production. Therefore, the topics on alternative feeding ingredients, efficient feeding and farm management, and disease control were timely in this challenging period.
